MKSubs are proud to present [Mushiking: The Guardians of the Forest](https://myanimelist.net/anime/4050/) - Episode 1.
**[edit: there is now a version 2 release](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1057311)**
Special thanks to [The Moonlighters](http://the-moonlighters.ml/) [[M-L 01](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/542174)] for allowing us to use the DVD ISOs they sourced.
And for permission to use their translation notes for episodes 1-5, this allowed our ground-up translation to progress much smoother.
I've now put the [ISOs onto AB](https://animebytes.tv/torrents.php?id=53709&torrentid=368197) for archiving purposes. Once I've finished encoding them all I'll make a batch release of the raws here.

Could you please check your encode. During the opening I noticed some frame escape, also you can manage to get ride of the blurry sides (-4 px) and on top/Bottom (-2 px). Nice serie, I will be glad if you sub it till the end. Good luck.

No sure what frame escape is, Please explain what this is, and how I fix it.

We are aware of the overporch and backporch [sometimes called overscan], and is discussed in the AB ISO release page.
We decided to keep the overscan for the encode and this was our preferred solution compared to covering with black bars, cropping or other solutions.
I came to this conclusion after speaking with all members of our group, and talking to many other encoders on various sites.
And also because it is not consistently present on all the ISOs.[present on 1-4,7-8,11-12,14-17].
[Compare [ISO 2](https://i.imgur.com/q9QYHFD.png) to [ISO 5](https://i.imgur.com/jKsPdAR.png)]
[Note: ISO 3 onwards has a colour correction present on the source itself, which is why the RHS has different colours slightly]
This way we can preserve resolution [and avoid any stretching or what have you] across our releases.
Alternatively we could crop/bar both the ones with and without overscan,
But that would be losing information on the perfect ones to cover the bad.
I think this not a compromise that is worth it.
---
My first run of encodes actually *did* have cropped edges and bottom, as you say 4 pixels L and R, 2 at the bottom.
But once I learned about some ISOs having it and some not, and there being no pattern.
I then went and did further research for other solutions, and then came to my conclusions stated above.

That's the plan. 28/52 down.
You can access via our discord if you can't wait.
