![](https://my.mixtape.moe/znbmrt.jpg) Thanks again to Lil' Banana and Karen! Couldn't have done this without you. Welcome to the 3rd episode of Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight from the **Anarcho-Communalist Subtitler Syndikat.** Please enjoy the fruits of our labour and witness the prowess of non-hierarchical production! LATER: I introduced an error during the QC process deleting one line and doubling up another. Grab the fixed version of the script here https://my.mixtape.moe/epqwxb.ass

What are we gonna do in the shed, Hikari-chan?
Make love not war
im glad fansubbing can provide me subtitles that support my political beliefs
cruelnoise is a bad person who hoards maple syrup for himself. Also this show is pretty cool you should watch it, my purple name commands you.
Thank you comrade
It's broken though
Anarcho-Communalist is an oxymoron tho
What's your raw source?
Anarcho-Communalist is only an oxymoron if you understand neither philosophy.
@Anonyneko, it's Amazon.

I wouldn't know. It's a private widevine drm exploit. Pretty sure there are only like two people in the fansubbing scene who actually have it and every one who has amazon rips either got it directly from one of the like two guys or has connections that eventually lead to the same one of two guys some way or another. It seems to me that the people who have it don't want to be known because then they'd be constantly bothered to rip shit for people. see: people constantly asking dragsterps to rip random shit from netflix for them ACSS and us happen to go through the same guy and having to buy the series twice and have the same guy rip it twice and upload to two places is dumb so we just went in 33.3/33.3/33.3 with another guy and share rips between each other.
@PA-Subs Understood. So it doesn't seem good to ask for the rip tool or ways. Still, thank you. PA-Subs and Chyuu make really good encode with less banding than original amazon video. By the way, what's the original filesize of the Amazon video source(EP01)?
Ep one was like 430MB or something The encodes end up being bigger than the source even with 10bit, I assume because the gradients need more bitrate. It's weird actually because Amazon's HEVC encodes are bigger than their h264 encodes by like 30MB or something. The source is ass. I compared my encode to ACSS's last night because I thought my encode was bloated because it was bigger by like 200MB for 02 https://diff.pics/7MU0o2cHdPXw/1 Turned out, it looks like their encoder didn't deband hard enough or didn't give it enough bitrate so the gradients came undone if they did deband, or a combination of the two and possibly for not using 10bit in addition. I was worried I had 200MB of bloat but I'm fine.
@PA-Subs They sharpened and darkened lines (maybe with usm or awrapsharp or something), but they didn't deal with banding. Your encode's filesizebloat results from crf 14.5. It's fine. And have you applied anti-alising or sharpening in your scripts? I guess not.
@NakatsuShizuru, yeah, I applied nnedi3 because it looked like there was some aliasing but that might've been from the masking used to use the lineart from Amazon h265. I was check again for 04 to make sure it's actually needed since it seemed to have made the lineart kinda blurry. Regarding sharpening and line darkening: I don't think it's an encoder's job to mess with that stuff for the most part. My encoding philosophy is that the encoder should stick to just fixing errors from the shoddy mastering/source and not make it look like how I think it should look like or just do what I think looks better like moozzi2 does heh. I don't sharpen or darken lines.

For episodes 1 and 2 my encoder was using a new x264 and didn't know it required an explicit 10-bit flag. This has been amended for episode 3, and of course will not be an issue in the future.
@PA-Subs @NakatsuShizuru FYI I know who encoded this and they neither sharpened the show nor darkened lines. It's sharper because it was properly resized, and if looks like something other than that to you you're encoding wrong. Don't talk about encoding if you don't know how to encode, please. Comparing the encode in the compare to moozzi2 is laughable and just shows how little you know if you can't tell the encoder fixed the poor upscale. And as cruelnoise said, the banding visible in the screenshots was due to 8bit. Not to give you shit k3, but looking at those compares it's clear you're taking about "aliasing" because you're not properly resizing. Your encode would look as sharp as this one if you were doing it right. You know who is encoding this so talk to them if you want it explained. Please don't do this in cruelnoise's comments.

@Yuuaki Main dialogue font is Commie Sans, which IIRC is actually Finnegan. "Audition" on the phone and "Revue" screenspace sign is Andes, but those are on the video, not our typsetting. Our font for the screenspace signs is Gentium Basic. Font for the insert song is Centaur, for the ED is Pretty_Pastel, and for the OP is Giraffe. You could have figured this out youself by using MKVToolNix and gMKVExtract to pull the script and font files from the mkv.
You can also use [AnimeTosho](https://animetosho.org/view/acss-shoujokageki-revue-starlight-03-1080p-25b3e820-mkv.n1060573) to download script/fonts.
