Made this v2 a while back, never made a proper torrent for it, though. Just put a mega link in the comments of the old torrent page, kinda lazy of me, really. We had someone ask about a dead link to it on our site and so I went ahead and made this. Help seed this one, yeah? The other one had a rough go and didn't seem to last the long run.

Did AnimEigo only ever release subs for this first episode, or did they do more?
It's looking like it might've just been this one.
I'd really like to see somebody tackle the rest of the series in the future.

There was no real thought behind the encode I used because the pavel-b encodes were new at the time and without them I wouldn’t have done it at all. I think this encode looks really good, though. A lot of bang for your 1.3 gb buck.

This is the only one AnimEigo did, yes. They wanted to do more. This is from the liner notes for the VHS:
"Shonan Bakusozoku is somewhat of an experiment for AnimEigo, as it is part of a genre of Japanese animation that is almost unknown in the United States. If you liked it, and would like to see other films in the Shonan series, please write and tell us. We particularly like the one where they go up against a rival gang of vampires…"
I bought my copy from a comic book store in 1998, I think, and it had sales stickers all over like it had been there forever. I paid $1.99 for it. So to give you an idea, this was probably a big bust for AnimEigo at the time, and they were a small outfit, so a failure like that so early on should have gave them cause to reconsider going out on a limb for such a unique series again. I personally love it, more for the animation than the story, which is some of the best hand drawn animation Toei ever produced. I too hope some group picks it up. Hell, all it takes is a translator and I would do it.

It does look pretty nice, guess I could at least grab the 1st ep. How do we find the raws of the rest and market them to sub groups?
