The USBD is useless for English/Japanese song translations to check against, no lyrics at all on the sub tracks. GJM has just a really simple OP/ED--English translation only with fades, no kfx--so I edited in some more complex kfx and Japanese-language lyrics from an Italian group called Rakuen Subs, modified as necessary. > >With exceptions as noted below, OP & ED English lyrics taken from GJM, Japanese kanji & romaji from Rakuen. There's two segments on Rakuen where the ktiming is not quite right ("kontoreiru" in the OP and a similar phrase in the ED), but your humble narrator has elected to leave it for the time being. > >Episode 12 presented a couple small OP/ED-related conundrums--"which" and "how much" of the karaoke pieces created by GJM and Rakuen to carry over and merge together. OP is like previous episodes, so that was simple enough. The insert song had some very, very nice kfx from Rakuen, but I thought it was unfortunately just overkill and a little distracting--GJM's English TL and styling kept for that. The ED (ver.2) is again a combination of GJM and Rakuen, almost in their native forms: GJM English lyrics slanted across the screen and then at the top, Rakuen kanji/romaji moved to the bottom, styling unchanged (i.e., not restyled to match one or the other as I preferred, as with the other episodes). > >One aspect of Rakuen's ED lyrics in Ep.12 (the Cloud font effect that appears as the lyrics are sung) caused two of my laptops to seriously lag on playback, while a third was fine. Tried a number of programs and with both of the common subtitle renderers to more or less the same result on each machine. Given this risk for playback issues, I didn't want to just leave it as it was or remove it entirely--I like the effect--so for Ep12 only there are two sets of subtitles--KFX-Lite and KFX-Full. The "Lite" track is default and contains a simple modification that comments out the lines with the laggy font for less resource-intensive playback, the "Full" version contains everything. The retail .PGS subtitles from Funi/USBD are also included, timing offset to go along with JPBD. --- #### **A Note About Track Flags** >Experimented with a combination of audio/subtitle-flagging ideas that are most likely going to please absolutely no-one--this being the Internet, after all--in the misguided attempt to cover all bases. Language tracks are flagged as ENG and JPN accordingly. Signs track is MUL (multiple languages) and Default/Forced, Full English subs as ENG (standard English), Funi tracks as ZXX ("no linguistic content"). The extra sub tracks (Lite/Full) in Ep.12 are further convoluted to involve Old & Middle English to separate individual tracks from the rest. Probably far too much effort on my part overall, but it's an idea. > >Your specified preferences for language priority in MPC-HC and MPV should be able to override whatever your humble narrator denotes as default/forced/etc, while this still allows for proper track playback in Plex and other comprehensive media centers. In theory, everybody should be happy.
