So, there are only very minimal changes from Blurays for this episode. Most of them are adding or removing black frames or extending scene transitions. There's also a new version of the first ending over scrolling credits, which we've translated.
This will probably change week to week but for now we're using primarily BD source with web scenes when necessary and web audio because of different scene lengths.
Unless there's some huge demand for 1080p, we'll do 720p until a new BD version is available.

Minute 15:30
There's an abrubt change in the clouds when Emilia turns her head.
Probably is a better idea to encode that scene from the last scene change.
The encode doesn't work with people who still use CCCP setup
Other stuff with 10 bit or any other video I ever ran from that matter (even your old Re zero BDs or Domestic na Kanojo "BDs") works just fine
>Then don’t use CCCP. There are better alternatives.
I'm not a fan of players like MPV who have many codecs supports but don't have basic options even video players from the 90s did ;/
And CCCP worked just fine for me for everything else aside this very release
There are alternatives which are mpv based if you really need a GUI: mpv.net (mpv with modern gui) , mpc-qt (mpv with mpc-hc similar look), Kawaii-Player
It's better than staying on outdated software. You could also try K-Lite Codec Pack if you really want to stay on MPC-HC.
> Just use the lastest version of MPC-HC, it should play anything out of the box.
Codec packs were obsolete since 2013 or so.
Codecs were still used around 2015 and still being used for people who didn't went with the M$ madness OSs, They not being used vastly as they did though now that Win Sa10 have most of them in the OS right away (which is also why MPC-HC works right away with it in later OS vers),
Sorry if I'm sound stubborn here but I have my reasons to stick with what I have, I can give a go and try other stuff, but rather than do that why can't you guys just look into the encode and see why it plays like that in the first place? ;o
From my experience it usually happens when someone messed up something/didn't included something that was needed for other players supports (cause who give a dam stuff from few years ago ;/), or just used new encoded settings (Can't do much about the last~)
I've tried with the latest CCCP and MPC-HC and it's still just getting a bunch of green and grey sqaures instead of the video for this one for some reason. Anything else I can try?
@egozi44 you blow my mind. How people can be so fixed in their ways like you is astounding. Exmendic very concisely explained why you should change your media player and why it would serve your needs even better. But no. Cry about 5 year old software not working. Unbelievable
> I’ve tried with the latest CCCP and MPC-HC and it’s still just getting a bunch of green and grey sqaures instead of the video for this one for some reason. Anything else I can try?
Either to mess up with the settings till you miraculously make it run in the price of ruining you codec setup and resort to the default settings, or changing player/codec pack,
Or ofc hope that they will fix it on their end~
> you blow my mind. How people can be so fixed in their ways like you is astounding. Exmendic very concisely explained why you should change your media player and why it would serve your needs even better. But no. Cry about 5 year old software not working. Unbelievable
@Zyzyx He just gave me alternatives, he didn't give me a reason it will serve my needs any better as you when you don't even know them to being with,
If I blow your mind it be smarter to ignore me over reply at all, all I got to say to you is that I do things in a way that fit me more just like you probably does yours, live a bit longer and you might start to understand how it feel when you get used to something and see no actual need to replace it even from logical perspective yet get some person who can't stand the fact that you get fixed to something in an age where everything get replaced every few years Yet not always really required you to run ahead and get it nor actually serve your "needs" ;)
If I will have a good reason I will move to an alternative, right now it not seem to be the case (at least for me)~
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/
Regrettably, the recent x264 builds have made certain encodes (4:4:4) incompatible with the final "official" version of MPC. And VLC doesn't handle 4:4:4 encodes correctly by default, either.
if you want to use mpc-hc still, you could just update it from here https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases
dunno why so many people wasted time with alternative suggestions
@egozi44 "he didn’t give me a reason it will serve my needs any better"
His suggestions play recent 444 encodes fine. Your player does not. Seems like a fine reason to me.
>if you want to use mpc-hc still, you could just update it from here https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases

@herkz didn't fixed the issue on my end, did you referred only to @freaky comment? ;o
weirldy i had the last updated one. 1.8.8. I use the portable 1.9.0 and it works. Updated be and it works now. I still have hc 1.7.8 since i hate the internal sub render since i could never figure how to get to to screenshot with subs in player. I rather just use mpc-qt.
>@herkz didn’t fixed the issue on my end, did you referred only to @freaky comment? ;o
it has for me and many other people in the past with 4:4:4 video, so you're probably fucking something up. actually the only thing that needs to be updated is LAV filters, but you might as well update the player at the same time.
how has VLC not fixed that bug yet wtf
actually how has VLC not just deleted itself yet
@egozi44 Just use k-lite codec pack. It's essentially the same thing but updated. All CCCP users should be using k-lite now especially VLC users...
You just have to configure it (during install) to use the same things that CCP had namely if you were also using the FFDShow plugins and such it'll be listed. Mine is kinda out of date as I'm using k-lite codec pack version 15.2.6.
Here's a pic of me using k-lite codec pack with MPC-HC (with madVR, FFDShow Audio Processor, LAV audio, video, and splitter) with this video with no issues. https://i.ibb.co/JpqLv7x/setup.jpg
Probably just need to update LAV video. Could try PotPlayer (which is using k-lite codec pack) that's my main and mpc being my backup.
Use [assfiltermod](https://github.com/Blitzker/assfiltermod/releases) too tho you have to turn it off when watching video with PGS and some VobSub subtitles.
^ Figured as much. Just updated k-lite and seems they added a dark theme to the MPC-HC GUI under VIew > Dark Theme
And if your PC has issues playing 4:4:4 (like lagging) try configuring LAV video to use just the 8 bit 4:2:0 output settings (or the 10 bit which ever your PC can handle). See my image (above) to see what I mean as that's what I had to do when I was on my old 10 year old PC.
it doesn't if the encoder has updated their x264 anytime in the past like 2 years
actually it would even then if they disabled a setting, but that setting saves some filesize, so no point since people can update their video player
There was a bug in (very) old lav decoder version with 4:4:4 h264 encode. This has been fixed since, but if some players still use too much old lav filter version, the bug is still present. x264 disabled for a while the specific setting in 4:4:4 encode which trig the bug, but it was at the detriment of encode quality. This has been removed since a little while, so now x264 made "full" properly 4:4:4 encodes, but if you have too much old lav filters, now these encode will trig the old lav filter decoding bug in 4:4:4.
MPC-HC + madVR/LAV and you're go to go. Especially with modern GPU.
MPV is just some nerd shit and it tends to break older subs. I've already deleted that garbage player.
Fansubs are dead, so there's no reason to change your playback just to watch some fansub once in a blue moon.
PS: thanks.
If you are on Windows 10 64-bit, using a clsid2 build of MPC-HC x64 (for 4:4:4), and have an AVX2 capable cpu, you can install the XySubFilter build from jesec here overtop of your old XySubFilter installation:
https://github.com/Cyberbeing/xy-VSFilter/pull/16
It uses a February 2019 build of libass for rendering instead of vsfilter, which should solve any issues people with MPC-HC setups have.
No reason to switch to mpv just for libass, but mpv is recommended over old mpc-hc vsfilter installations at this point or CCCP and VLC. A lot of releases are not checked against vsfilter these days. And like Kamiyan says, it's not like a lot of you are watching fansubs all the time. MPV is standalone so I don't really understand how letting it sit in a folder for occasional use is an issue. Just open it up instead when you need it if you have a different player of choice.
> Fansubs are dead, so there’s no reason to change your playback just to watch some fansub once in a blue moon.
Sad but true and sort of was my entire point, if so far only one re-release of a series I've already watched 4 years ago give me that issue, I see no reason to even mess with codecs or players, I do appreciate the suggestions though and it may be a red light that soon I will have to moved from CCCP, but I rather stick to it for now as it also works with some antique releases of shows that no one re-encoded or even plan to re-encode anytime soon~
~~Also updating the player alone won't helps for none win10 users since afaik the reason things works for some right away with updated player and no codec pack installed is solely due to Win10 which have more updated codecs on the get-go, And I dk if you can simply install K-lite over CCCP while backing it up somewhere like some of you said, it may works on Win10, but I sure don't feel like try it on older OS cause from my experience it will probably cause some issues unless you removed the old codec pack first... or unless they both not interfere with one another~~
yeah don't just switch to mpv, which wouldn't require going to pull on a renderer that hasn't been touched in over a year. it's not like it works just fine.
@egozi44 Not everyone is on Windows 10. I certainty am not one of them and currently using Windows 7. It's time to to stop using CCCP and move to k-lite. PotPlayer got a lot of functions and it's my main and uses k-lite's codec pack. Not sure if you require it as CCCP may of included it by default but during k-lite install you have to tell it you want the FFDShow's filter but prioritize LAV over FFDShow or select both when possible.
With k-lite using MPC-HC it'll configure it for you if that lazy during install just switch out the subtitle renderer (just in case it's not known it's under Options > Playback > Output > Subtitle Renderer) and in PotPlayer under Preference > Filter Control > Filter Priority (Overall) > is where you tell it to use LAV video, audio, and the splitter and if you require it to enhance the audio FFDShow audio processor ( with optional FFDShow raw video filter) and one of subtitle renderer (like assfiltermod https://github.com/Blitzker/assfiltermod use the .bat to it on your PC) under "Add ed filter" or "Add external filter" and click the "prefer" bubble on each.
If you so wish could further configure the LAV and FFDshow outputs and that's it.
You don't need to wait every blue moon for a fansub to drop, I certainty don't. Both PotPlayer and MPC-HC are the only two video players I ever use on both fansubs and the regular HS stuff, so I am not really understanding this thing about using a certain player for fansubs and another for the rest or maybe I'm reading it wrong. https://i.postimg.cc/HY7tr7gn/pottyplayer.jpg
If you don't update your codec say in a year (or months) just update the codec and player that's what I've done. May need to redo the PotPlayer filter priority configuration again tho as I did have issue due to not having updated it in months and not re-configuring to use the updated codec properly.
Imagine going through the efforts of assembling your playback toolchain manually with k-lite, potplayer/mpc-hc, lav, xysubfilter, w/e compared to downloading a single binary, dragging your file into that and being done with it.
Almost like it's 2010 again instead of 2020.
>Imagine
You're such an idiot tbh.
We don't assemble anything. You only need random compilation of MPC/Madvr or K-lite, it takes 5 second at best.
Same goes for MPV. You're already downloading some random compilation. I've used that one posted on eXmendiC's website, and it was soooo shit. It just breaks every blur from older fansubs. And lack of "Play next file in the folder" feature makes that shit useless. I'm not gonna waste 5 mins to set this up.
Any android player reccomendations that can play this smoothly? VLC player could play it a bit but still bad at playing it and other video player I use mx player cant. (For random guy that had pc die after xmas and uses phone as a temp video player while still saving for new pc)
Maybe rather than change to K-lite I could just look for the codecs I need one by one to update and update the player?
I already updated the XySubFilter long ago so that's one thing that is out of the list~
@egozi44 k-lite will update the stuff that fergdog mentioned if that's all you want... it literally takes two minutes to look through the damn list during install or it'll take just seconds if you that lazy.
@FichteFoll It don't even take long at all to do and after setting it up all you gotta do update lav filters and the player since the others like FFDShow (last 2014), and mavVR (2018) have had no update in while that needs fixing. The laziness is something else, smh.
@komorebi-group If you're using LAV Video switch to using 8 or 10 bit and uncheck the 4:4:4 and RGB boxes. See if it works for you. https://i.postimg.cc/VkkR4j6g/LAV-Video.jpg
On my 11 year old dual core PC with integrated graphics was able to play 720p 444 with no issues (using PotPlayer on both H264 10 bit and HEVC 10 and 12 bit which the latter was really pushing it) except when heavy typset was used.
So if you on something worse than my last PC it's time to upgrade. Recommend a Ryzen PC.
>Stop making 4:4:4 encodes, the source is not 4:4:4, there is no benefit to it other than breaking player support.
please don't write that anymore.
