UPDATE #2: Once it has enough seeders I'll get rid of this since I don't think anyone here wants DTS audio that sounds exactly the same as AAC
So this was an odd one. BluRay but with standard definition (aka 480p). Ripped it, then encoded it to make sure their wasn't any interlacing and to hopefully sharpen the picture.
With that said; it was compressed by 57% (was 74.2GB). With all that said; to the best of my knowledge this is just BluRay release with SD quality but DTS audio? I'm not sure if i would quite call it a remaster either.
I also added unstyled subs for those who aren't fans of 90s era yellow subtitles.
Seeing as there is only viable release of this series; I figured why not since I managed to come across the BD (aka SD). I'll do a comparison with the current release after I eat.

As in the original mkv's?. They're roughly 1.7gb each. I can upload that next if you'd like. As for the raws. They were not ISOs but rather M2TS files. It was initially scattered across over 170 zippy files...
Once I extracted that, I deleted it since the M2TS coupled with the extracted raw Mkv files were almost 150gb. I do have the untouched Mkv's I extracted. Each episode is roughly 1.7gb? Bitrates ranging from 8000-9000.
I can Chuck those up if you want. But sadly don't have the M2TS anymore + it still needed work. The especially the the interlacing.
First series felt way better imo than the current reboot, dk if the reboot lack any kind of fillers or of the first series were original cause I never looked into the original source material, but it def lack chara development, and reason for us to get relate to the charas at all,

Agreed. The reboot came out of no where also. Though I'm really hoping it does give way to an actual bluray release and not this supposed bluray.. Far as I can tell when I researched it. The only difference was the Audio was now DTS. the video itself still felt of DVD quality.
As for the show. Definitely prefer the original. 2nd season felt a little forced though. I was also highly debating whether to change audio to ACC since I think the audio here is what's making the size quite large did a HEVC. But compared to the extracted raw mkv's, 600mb is an improvement over 1.7-1.8gb files any day.
it was released as SD because upscaling it is pointless and they'd have to spend more money for more discs. it's actually a smart idea for old anime that are SD and companies should do it more instead of upscaling to 1080p for no reason.

Well I can do a re-release. Any audio fomrat suggestion or stick with AAC? I thought for continuity sake I'd keep the DTS but even as i was doing it; it felt overkill for a 480p release. I'll do a re-encode while I sleep. See what the size comparsion is.
So in total I'll do 3 releases of this. my HEVC with the DTS audio, a HEVC release AAC and the original untouched which is somewhere near 75GB for both seasons.
The third option being for those who wish to code and make a more sufficient release than myself. Hopefully that'll hope mate. Hopefully we'll one day see a rel BluRay release of the original series.
Done deal mate. I'm about to hit the hay for the night. I'm revising this torrent and re-releasing it with an AAC audio this time around for size control; then I'll put up the series as a whole untouched. Hopefully maybe in your hands or others, something good can come something I've stumbled upon. Also would make give me more relief knowing it's out there and not lost in time due to my limited storage. Just keep an eye out on my this torrent my username in the next few days. I'll have the AAC version up tomorrow when I wake up and once I get a few seeders on that, I'll throw that monster of a torrent up.
Last year I compared the ADV DVD's with this new SD Blu-ray to see in the small chance if there's any difference. The video compression appears the same which is expected but this SD Blu-ray release actually cropped a little of the video for some reason. Although its very minor cropping so not a big deal. Still, if you have the ADV DVD's just watch those instead.
I don't think the DTS audio makes a difference. They most likely just encode the ac3 DVD audio to DTS-HD which is really unnecessary but they always do that. The Japanese DVD's did use PCM audio, however these have the English text OP which tells me they encoded using the R1 video and likewise probably its ac3 audio which is usually 192Kbps.
Guys for those who are feeling the bloat of the DTS is too much, I just put up the AAC release. It comes in a little under 10GB (Goes to show how muc how the DTS audio was space consuming).

Yes yes I learnt my mistake haha. God what a train wreck of a torrent - I might white list it and hide it. I originally wanted to preserve as much detail reencoding and with the audio.. I just didn't expect the the audio to be so ABUSED. Like the bloat is legit with the whole damn thing. The video source... the audio. What a mes of a release.
Still I'd rather share what I have and has been released then my belief of it being "good" or "bad" holding it back. Some may want it untouched, or with the DTS audio, who knows.
