The Orphan rework tour continues with a new, complete version of the 1985 sword-and-scifi OVA, *Greed*. The original version was missing half of the end credits. This version is based on a new laserdisc. Despite serious bit rot, our Intrepid Media Maven™ was able to extract a usable encode from the disc. The audio track is mostly from the original version, with a bumper from a non-rotted Pony Canyon disc, and the ending song from the new disc (seriously post-processed through Audacity). For more details, see [this blog entry](https://collectr.blogspot.com/2020/07/greed-v2.html).

This release, and all Orphan releases, are available for direct download from IRC bot Orphan|Arutha in channels #nibl or #news on irc.rizon.net.
I promise we'll do some original releases Real Soon.
Wouldn't it be better to offer these until you're sure you can have the entire thing with no issues? I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but this isn't the first time you've made a V2 because of an issue with the original discs. Believe me, I know how awful bitrot can be on old LDs, but it's also a pain to keep track of these new updates.
@Hermandshot - When Orphan did its original versions of these shows, the Domesday Duplicator for laserdiscs was not available, nor did the team have the uncompressed capture facility it now uses for VHS tapes. The technology changes since 2018 are spelled out in this blog: https://collectr.blogspot.com/2019/03/the-relentless-pursuit-of-analog.html
At the time a show is released, the raw Orphan uses is not only the best raw it can find, it is often the only raw it can find. If the chance of a better raw is at least probable, the team waits. For example, Slow Step is translated, but the current raw is a conventional rip. A new rip, using the Duplicator, is being made, and the team will wait for that.
@RyzakiT - I'm not convinced about the current HD raws for Nine - they're letterboxed (OVA 1) or pillarboxed (OVAs 2-3). I'd really like an encode that was true to the original proportions.
