# _Ojamajo Doremi_ complete collection (softsubbed)

For the best experience, download the torrent and then open up Watch Order.txt in the root folder.
Here it is, folks: almost certainly the greatest children's TV series ever made. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cry, you'll laugh through your tears, and you'll cry, and you just might learn a little something about love, time, friendship, life, and loss along the way. (At the very least, you'll definitely learn why yams make you fart.)
The releases collected here represent the highest-quality currently-publicly-available versions of every animated component of the _Doremi_ franchise. I've had to retime or remux a good number of these files; for background, details on each season's sources, the changes I've made, and the various interesting extras I've thrown in, read on.

### Inception
I deemed this torrent necessary because I got tired of recommending the show to my friends only to hear them complain that it was too difficult to collect all the seasons and understand the order in which to watch them. The project was undertaken with the goal of enabling more people to easily access this fantastic series, not out of impatience.
It's important to understand that although this torrent is "complete," it is still a stopgap measure. All English-language subtitles for _Ojamajo Doremi_ derive from [Doremi Fansubs](https://doremi-fansubs.com/) (with whom I have no affiliation and to whom be all thanks and praise), who are continuing to release V2s of all their previous episodes and plan to release BDs someday. **All files here are to be superseded by any future Doremi releases.** That said, running the numbers on Doremi's current release rate suggests that they won't be finished upgrading their subs until at least the 2060s, so parts of this torrent may still be useful for a long time to come.
As I mentioned, every source I've used is publicly available; if anyone has access to better RAWs and the time to mux Doremi's subs onto them (time is what I lack—it's taken me half a year just to grab in tiny snatches the relatively small number of hours I needed to put this torrent together), then by all means do so.
-----------
### S1: _Ojamajo Doremi_
The first season is simple: Doremi's untouched V2 episodes, using a DVD source. (It goes without saying that this is better than Moozi2's BD encode.) If you don't like my torrent for whatever reason, you can get this season from Doremi's torrent [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/667105).
-----------
### S2: _Ojamajo Doremi #_
The first 43 episodes are the same Doremi V2s as the first season; episode 43 is where they're currently stalled, and I've had no choice but to use their original hardsubbed releases for the last six episodes. This is unfortunate as the quality difference (particularly the audio) is pretty shocking, but unless someone wants to OCR the Doremi subs onto DVD or AMZN-DL raws we've no choice but to wait for the V2s. You can find the original releases at [this torrent](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/984587) (check the comments for info on the V2s). So yes, you got me: this torrent is technically only _mostly_ softsubbed.
The S2 movie is also the HD Doremi V2, available [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1139184). EDIT: There is now a better-encoded version of this movie available [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1345611), which I plan to include in this torrent on that blessed day when it's updated with the new movie, the _Heartwarming Theater_ shorts, and the final V2s of the second season.

### S3: _Mo〜tto! Ojamajo Doremi_
This season looks much better! It uses raws from an HDTV reairing of the show in Japan, with the Doremi subs muxed in. Unfortunately, the original files I exhumed from the deepest caverns of Mega were badly mistimed; the subs fell up to a second out of alignment at eyecatches and before and after the OP/ED, so I went through every episode and shifted the timing to make something bearable. There are probably (definitely) still episodes with subs a few milliseconds out of sync, especially in the early sections of the season, before I got my retiming groove on; normal viewers will almost certainly not notice, but I apologize to any experienced timers who may be watching. (Typesetters may also notice that the typesetting of some insert songs is completely broken—I didn't have time to fix this.)
For the S3 movie I wound up deciding that Mozzi2's softsubbed HD encode, from [this torrent](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1170815), was marginally less abominable than Doremi's ancient hardsubbed release [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/934797). EDIT: There is now a __much__ better-encoded version of this movie available [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1345601), which I plan to include in this torrent on that blessed day when it's updated with the new movie, the _Heartwarming Theater_ shorts, and the final V2s of the second season.

### S3∞: _Ojamajo Doremi Na・i・sho_
This simply uses the untouched HDTV [S4S] release, also available [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1282381). It looks nice.
I also urge you to check out my new translations of the textless OP and ED themes in the extras (see the relevant section below).
-----------
### S4: _Ojamajo Doremi Dokka~n!_
Episodes 1–28 and 50–51 are Doremi's subs on a DVD raw, available on Nyaa [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1289484). I remuxed all of these files to include the fonts, which for some reason the original torrent did not. This DVD encode retains more detail than Doremi's hardsubbed DVD releases, but also looks "dirtier." If you have strong encoding preferences and don't mind hardsubs, you can pick up Doremi's originals [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/760770).
Episodes 29–49 are from the same glorious HDTV re-air source I used for S3 (sadly these were apparently the only episodes the capper got). The timing on these was in truly appalling condition, since the HDTV airing put the next episode preview after the credits but Doremi's subs place it before, and whoever muxed the subs failed to account for this. I spent many precious minutes retiming and triple-checking these; real timers still probably won't be content with my work, but I am satisfied.

## Extras
### _Ojamajo Doremi Comedy Theater_
This is a series of web shorts released ahead of the 20th anniversary celebration and subbed by Doremi. (Episode 7 has an external sub file because that was how Doremi released their V2.) There's no batch, but you can click [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/?f=0&c=0_0&q=doremi+comedy) to find the individual torrents.
Note that there is also a series of _Doremi_ shorts called _Heartwarming Theater_, released in tandem with the film, which has not yet been subbed by anybody.

### Textless _Na・i・sho_ OP and ED with subs that actually make sense
So it turns out that I know Japanese and I'm a pretty decent translator; I simply never have time to do it. I made a special exception in this case, however, because my pet peeve is songs that don't make sense and the _Na・i・sho_ ED is so, so good—much too good for the translation it's saddled with in the original [S4S] files (which also feature typos in the rōmaji). Do check out the fruits of my labor, if only to see the lovely textless OP and ED animation, and then feel free read the 3,000-word text document if you're interested in knowing exactly why my rendition is better. I'd love to do more [Songs That Make Sense] someday, but when will I have more than two available hours a week?

### 4KIDS dub
Yes, seriously. I threw in the whole heavily-edited US dub of the first season, which is the only _Doremi_ we've ever officially gotten in English. It's truly mesmerizing to watch these files and see just how much effort and talent went into producing something so much worse than the original. Some of the gags in particular are astonishingly sharply-written, but are let down by the hyperactive pacing (several minutes are cut from each episode to make room for more ads), the thematic censorship (in this version, your parents never die—they "take a job in a factory"), and the attempts to make characters fit the predictable Western archetypes (so for example poor Kaori is reduced to Reika's quivering underling, spectacularly undermining both classmates' personalities). At least you can't blame the awful encode quality on 4KIDS.
-----------
### Traffic safety PSAs (untranslated)
These are, as the label says, a pair of PSAs that aired during _Mo〜tto!_. One, about the Witch Queen somewhat perversely ordering a cake from the Maho-Do and then berating Doremi for breaking traffic safety rules in her attempts to deliver it on time, covers pedestrian safety; the other, about Pop and Kimitaka engaging in an extremely ill-considered bicycle race, teaches bicycle safety. They are untranslated and the video and audio quality are unspeakably bad; I include them purely for completion's sake. (Doremi has said that they have higher-quality raws and will release them... someday.)
-----------
### _Looking for Magical Doremi_ trailer
As subbed by Doremi [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1289459). The new film is not a sequel to the series, but rather a story set in the modern-day real world about a group of women who grew up watching _Ojamajo Doremi_. Doremi will sub it whenever it becomes available and they have time.

Thank you to all of the good people who used their own files to help with initial seeding! You guys are the best. I'm afraid I can't really do much seeding from here on out, so I'm counting on the community to keep the torrent alive for as long as it is useful.
Enjoy, and stay gold!
