Note: This is a patched version of EG's release, which can be found here: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/644786 ![GanBasutaa](https://i.imgur.com/EiP50qf.png) ![GanBasutaa](https://i.imgur.com/bKJVa9t.png) Synopsis (from [MyAnimeList](https://myanimelist.net/anime/949/Top_wo_Nerae_Gunbuster)): In the near future, humanity has taken its first steps towards journeying into the far reaches of the galaxy. Upon doing so they discover a huge race of insectoid aliens known as "Space Monsters." These aliens seem dedicated to the eradication of mankind as they near closer and closer to discovering Earth. In response, humanity develops giant fighting robots piloted by hand-picked youth from around the world. Shortly after the discovery of the aliens, Noriko Takaya, the daughter of a famous deceased space captain, enters a training school despite her questionable talents as a pilot. There, she meets her polar opposite, the beautiful and talented Kazumi Amano, and is unexpectedly made to work together with her as they attempt to overcome the trauma of war as well as their own emotions. Up until now, the EG release was the best out of any for Gunbuster. It was the only one that contained the original 2.0 audio, and it did not make use of any digital noise removal. However, this release wasn't perfect, as there were some missing/incorrect subtitles. Thankfully, a commenter by the name of Nick700 posted some subtitle patches in the comments a few years after the original posting. However, it was bothering me that the best release of this show had these issues, so I took it upon myself to create a new post with these patches already included. The release includes all six episodes, along with three short bonus clips and all eight science lessons. For the video side, the first four episodes and the first four science lessons were animated on somewhat blurry 16mm film, so the release only encoded them at 720p, as 1080p wouldn't include any extra detail. The rest of the science lessons and the specials were also kept at 720p. Episode 5 and 6, however, were animated on the much higher quality 35mm film, and are encoded at 1080p as a result. (They look great!) On the audio side, the original 2.0 stereo track was included for each episode, the science lessons, and the specials. The release also includes a 5.1 surround mix which was created years later for a theatrical screening of the OVA. Since the original audio master tapes were lost, they had to bring back the voice actors and rerecord each line, along with mixing in replacement sound effects and the music. Because of this, many of the lines have a noticeable change in delivery, despite the same voice actors being used. Both tracks have been included for comparison. Here are the specs, according to EG's original post: Video: H.264 10bit @ CRF17.5-18 Audio: FLAC Subs: Aegisub based on REVO Special thanks to EG for the original release, along with Nick700 for the patches. ![GanBasutaa](https://i.imgur.com/a80h8qt.png)

Reposted due to one of the video files being corrupted during the patching process.

Of course it has grain. It was shot on film. It's part of the visuals. Film grain is an integral part of anything that is filmed on actual film, which includes most movies and some TV shows from before the early 2000's. You could "fix" it by using digital noise removal, but in my opinion it removes the texture, and can tend to make things look muddy and gross. If it makes you feel any better, the grain is more prominent on the 16mm episodes as that type of film has a lower resolution. For episodes 5 and 6, which use 35mm film, the grain is not nearly as prominent. If you still hate it though, there is a release on this site that has DNR applied to everything. But it's up to you.
I for one appreciate the grain. Thank you, guysome11!
Bruh Thank u :3
Still no subtitles for the new year's tree, wishing for "mama to see aunt Noriko again."
https://i.imgur.com/Sxi5oy3.jpg this needs subtitles.
why do all weab faggots seem to have no clue when it comes to film preservation. literally comments on every release of 80s 90s anime shot on film with a decent encode complaining about grain. i assume that's why so many releases are DVNRd to shit. this is why we can't have nice things. faggots
Why is this red as in re-encode? Did you change the encode in any way?

I marked it as a "remake" when submitting. When you hover over the "remake" option, it says "This torrent is derived from another release", which is true. While I didn't re-encode it, I used EG's release and then applied someone else's subtitle patch, which were located in the comments as a mega download. The reason I did this is because, at the time I first posted this torrent, this was the best version of Gunbuster video quality-wise, yet lacked subtitles for a couple of the science lessons and apparently had some mistakes in episode 3. The other release by sxales did not have the original stereo track and only the rerecorded surround sound one, though he has since released a V2 fixing this. It was bothering my that the best version of Gunbuster out there required patching, so I decided it would be best to post a patched version you can easily just download and watch. Since EG did most of the work, I kept his tag.
