Honorifics were missing in some parts of the sources I used for this release. For season 1, Kametsu removed them from Cthuko subs and for season 2, all episodes had honorifics except two. I've used the scripts from the original sources of the subtitles and merged them back here to restore honorifics for consistency across seasons. The movie includes unchanged subs from astral and has no honorifics.
I've used opus for a lot of my releases. This is because opus is simply efficient and transparent. Anyone who disagres is wrong and will not be able to differentiate opus from flac in an abx test.
Hearing the difference now isn't the reason to encode to FLAC. FLAC uses lossless compression, while OPUS is 'lossy'. What this means is that for each year the OPUS sits on your hard drive, it will lose roughly 12kbps, assuming you have SATA - it's about 15kbps on IDE, but only 7kbps on SCSI, due to rotational velocidensity. You don't want to know how much worse it is on CD-ROM or other optical media.
I started collecting releases with OPUS audio in about 2012, and if I try to play any of the episodes I downloaded back then, even the stuff I grabbed at 256kbps, they just sound like crap. The bass is terrible, the midrange…well don’t get me started. Some of those releases have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. FLAC rips from the same period still sound great, even if they weren’t stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to FLAC, you may not be able to hear the difference now, but in a year or two, you’ll be glad you did.
It might also be worth noting that Opus introduces artifacts into the audio. Only the industry knows what they’re doing and even then I doubt it. I once did Opus and got into a lot of trouble because they were considered mini encodes. I trust what HowUnfortunate from Nyaa has to say on Opus.
I once did Opus and then all my kids and wife left me. Then it got out at work and I got fired. Now I have to live under the bridge. So kids please don't do Opus.
Wtf I love FLAC now
EDIT: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1045403-do-mp3s-degrade-in-quality-over-time/ stealing memes is a crime btw
>Now the important thing is once you've done the transcode you wont lose any more quality. What your friend says about files degrading over time on a hard disk is not true. It is completely false. Files once created do not lose quality unlike older analogue systems. The worst thing that could happen is data corruption but this isn't a normal thing this is what happens when things have gone completely wrong. And that is not usual or even needs to be considered in such a discussion.

You should've used subs from [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1364973), and not unchanged subtitles of mine that lacked QC and had a lot of issues (in both translation and editing) as a result.

I did check the subs from Exp and their list of changes looked very different last time. Most of the changes were for the worse, but apparently they re uploaded the torrent without marking it as a v2. Even with this version, imo the changes aren't so drastic, and I wouldn't say yours had a lot of issues.
But thanks for linking it anyway. To anyone who finds the changes significant and wants to use those subs, you can simply grab them from animetosho and use them as external subtitles since all the fonts are already included here.
You misunderstand that topic if you think flac is a good idea for anime in general. I'd argue even for music it's mostly placebo unless you are a professional music producer. What the other user said is just a copypasta full of baseless technobabble.
People are missing the main point : when someone is downloading good quality bloat af release, no one would care about extra 10 gb from flacs or 5 gb per season (12 episode, assuming flac to be 24 bit 400 Mb per episode, instead of 16bit 170 MB PER EP)
I mean, this is far from a bloated release, 850/900 mb per episode is on the high end but still not bloated. And while throwing more bitrate has extremely diminishing returns but still has them nevertheless, using lossless audio has no real benefit for the end user, unless he has a professional audiophile setup worth thousands of dollars (and even then I remain highly skeptical).
The only real complaint that I find valid is that aac is widely supported whereas opus has compatibility issues which is why I disagree with its use. It's not like you are saving that much between opus and aac anyway, it's not worth the gain.
lmao i can't tell if half these replies are memes or sarcasm
TBH, OPUS is the latest and greatest mainstream audio codec. Opus at 128 KB/s (VBR) is pretty much transparent. (https://wiki.xiph.org/Opus_Recommended_Settings#Recommended_Bitrates) Good luck actually passing a ABX test with OPUS vs FLAC...
but yea... storage is indeed cheap... FLAC doesn't use much space unless you have a potato PC... both sides of the coin are equally valid
Thank you.
Also gonna throw in my opinion too.
Vinyl. Analog hand cranking gramaphone player alongside the laptop on mute. Will feel like the seiyuu is right next to you.
Plus, in a blackout you can still listen to the audio.
Lasts for so long Dr Stone could've been listening to DanMachi if anyone bothered to listen to me.
FLAC and OPUS both lose.
