**Sources:** Video source: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1443698 JP Audio Source: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1443802 (audio extra section) EN Audio: Netflix Subtitle Source: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1445777 I couldn't find any UHD SDR versions that matched contrast and color of the 1080p version, so I made my own. Just putting it out there if anyone else wants it. Also thanks to motbob for his comments in previous SDR releases to get me just riled up enough to make this one. **Encoding notes:** Some settings were just guessed as I didn't feel like going over too much to tune them precisely (1440p screen for 4k QC is also a pain). crf=16 as I didn't want the end result to get much over 10GB and 14 was giving me more bitrate than I expected. psy-rd=1.70 & psy-rdoq=1.00 were chosen a bit more moderate as there wasn't that much noise preservation to do and seeing they reduce psnr and ssim for better perceived quality I couldn't really test it accurately. I considered using qpoffs of 2 but decided to play it safe and use 0 even if it would save some file size. AQ mode 3, Deblock 1:1 is standard anime affair (apparently not). AQ strength 1.00 seemed fine and qcomp was raised to 0.65 as it should give a bit better image in faster scenes without raising the size too much as they are somewhat sparse. I could've also cropped it down to 3840x1608 to reduce 4*4 macroblock count and avoid potential frame edge issues when going from 16:9 source but it's too late to fix that now. **Comparison pics:** it's script from Beatrice-Raws that you are using to encode this?
Thanks. Would really appreciate some comps in case you made any. Also what filtering did you do? Mediainfo would be appreciated as well.

@naiyas I started the encode a bit more than a day ago and the beatrice-raws script isn't up on their repo yet so I couldn't use it. I just did the standard tone-mapping. None of the values were outside standard color gamut range anyway so you can just clip everything outside without the need for interpolation. Gamma conversion did clip the highs a bit (so blue turned to greener in come clouds), but I just rolled it of with a knee so it doesn't clip anymore. I compared a couple of scenes with the reinforce 1080p version and it looked about the same safe for a bit less haziness and less dark area noise because the 4k source is already kinda cleaned up.
I see. Thanks for this.
usually when i encode BD from raw source i disable the CUtree and strong intra smoothing and no sao might overkill the deblock -1,-1, also must use (no-rskip) according to beatrice-raws, HDR to SDR i don't have any idea yet how achieve i good convertion for that matter

@naiyas, I'll keep these in mind. I used deblock 1:1 not -1:-1 so not sure how specifically that interacts with sao. Beatrice used 1:-1 for this one and their others match what you said. I can't really see why cutree specifically would be better off but I'll do some testing.
@Compgeek you can learn from judas team how to encode it i think it's 1080p version, at least we can learn sometime more, hahahaha each of that implementation have time penalty for encoding the more you add the longer to encode
cutree is one of the most important features for encoding efficiency, so if you disable it you had better know exactly what it is and why you're disabling it.
https://slow.pics/c/GL0lQOH0 It's a much better attempt, but I still prefer the upscaled Reinforce. I think some real detail is getting lost in your encode (though a lot of what appears to be detail loss at first glance is just denoising).
