Despite being an idol for most of her singing career, her boom in international popularity is due to the production styles of her music, sounding more City Pop-ish rather than the typical bubblegum pop sound most idols had at the time. Most of her singles charted at number at the Oricon Single Charts, and also was part of a rock band, before eventually changing her industry to focus more on acting. However, she is now continuing to sing more in the past years.
