Is this the day i finally get to watch it?
There are a lot of mistakes in the subs
@-SP- Could you kindly give some examples of those misstakes you've observed, please! I watched the amazon raw together with Gotoubun no Hanayome Movie - 1080p WEB H.264 -NanDesuKa (B-Global)_track3_eng.ass .Whether there might be some sentences not all that well-translated, I can’t judge. But there was nothing which made me questioning anything. Timing, grammar, spelling and all looked just fine to me. (Those subs, as well as these ones, are supposed to be b-global both.
@JackAssborn Most of the grammar throughout the movie was incorrect. A lot of sentences also looked as if they were google translated. Some specific examples are at 1:34:12 "Leaving by your own is something I absolutely hate." At 1:41:44 "I didn't expected to keep singing all over the night." These examples were just random ones I found by clicking on a random point in the video progress bar to find specific examples for you. Some of the grammatical mistakes also made it difficult to understand what was happening in certain scenes which made the subs seem like they have been google translated from another language. I saw people complaining about this on the release from someone else yesterday, although I don't know what the source of their subs was
@-SP- Those two lines do sound weird, but the meaning is quite accurate.
@-SP- Well, yeah, "...didn’t expected..." I actually did observe, too, and some others, too. But minor spelling/grammar mistakes are nowadays everywhere, in the New York Times, in books, in my daily newspaper. Something one has to live with in this time and age, I figure. 😄 Nothing which ruined the movie for me. But I corrected some lines... e. g. into... Dialogue: 0,1:41:43.96,1:41:45.63,Default,,0,0,0,,(Karaoke Samurai)\NI didn't expect to keep singing Dialogue: 0,1:41:45.63,1:41:46.50,Default,,0,0,0,,I didn't expect to keep singing Dialogue: 0,1:41:46.50,1:41:47.96,Default,,0,0,0,,all thru the night. Plus some others. (There were 3 or 4 other "didn't past-tense" I corrected.) "Problem" solved. 😄
There's also 07:30 "Is it okay with the number of attendance day?" 07:48 Itsuki: "Something I can't understand about today's class. I came to ask..." < Too literal. 08:07 Yotsuba: "...the third graders..." Really? Why not use "third years" to refer to them instead? Why "graders"? 09:30 "Don't forget it. It will be given in summer." < Given what? etc etc IMHO the script should be passed to a competent proofreader. EDIT: I'm fine with the occasional errors, like one or two over the course of the whole movie... but this many errors really distracts me from watching the whole thing. I'm a weeb and I take what I can cause we're all pirates here but I'm just gonna wait for better subs.
True: third graders usually refers to Elementary schoolers (8-9 year olds) while third years refers to Grade 12 (seniors) in high school. In North America anyhow. I'm not complaining, I'm just happy to see the Quints again! TY Ember for this and many other (not on Subs Please) translations!
@JackAssborn As I said, those were specific examples I found for the sake of giving you examples. There were countless other cases throughout the movie. As MidnightBlue said, multiple cases of mistakes are distracting and can take away from the immersion. Although for me personally it wasn't too big of a deal, I left my original comment for people who prefer having accurate subs so that they won't have to waste internet bandwidth downloading the file, if it's a dealbreaker for them.
@-SP- 👍 Yeah, you're right, of course. After a closer look at those examples above, I totally agree. 🙂
@Jackassborn @-SP- Someone modified the B-Global subs [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1595818).
[@IDontKnow](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1595595#com-13): No thanks. Not gonna trust you after your MTL release. Better make another Nyaa account.
Ember, I choose your work over others quite often, but there really are a lot of errors in this movie. I don't mind! It's part of the fun for me 😊 However? At 47:52 "As an abortive parent" is SO WRONG! It's "adoptive" so if you make a V2 PLEASE fix that one, oy!
The subs for this release definitely need some TLC. Bad grammar and spelling errors are all over the place. Not sure if the original script was just poorly done or if there were some OCR errors. (i.e., "permitted" spelled as "pretermited")
@5Cats No, "abortive" is more correct. Abortive means "failing to produce the intended result". So "tried to be a parent but failed", nothing to do with adoption. More accurate would be "although not good of one, as a parent...".
@hoolibas to pretermit, i. e. to intentionally disregard something, to prematurely terminate something.
