I simply adore the way in which these dozens to hundreds of scenes play out, overlooking the city, or with a parallax of the city below as the characters make their way up to Maison Ikkoku. We don't really see bleak empty gradient background in this show ever. Instead, there is a constant effort to keep their surroundings grounded and familiar in a way that is easy to grow attached to, over time. It help ground it all, at least to me. Maybe I'm weird. Anyway, woohoo double-digit episodes without stalling (unheard of)! Also I love everyone teasing Kyoko and Godai.
