Since these videos are 10-bit AV1, you should make sure you have a fully updated version of your video player to avoid playback issues, whether it’s MPC-HC, mpv, or VLC.
Very nice av1 encode, quality-to-size ratio is remarkable. Thank you for the effort you’ve put into the release.
I wanted to give you a heads up on a setting and a patch that will help av1 encodes in general in regards to original grain/detail and low quality in low luminance areas:
I can’t remember if you’re already using this setting, you’ll get a little bit better grain retention by using --aq-mode=0 over using aq1. You may find this to be useful.
I think Clybius’ goal was to give users a way to reduce the strength of arnr-strength-1 because even 1 can be too strong, depending.
Adding another setting would be too much coding and/or pointless when he can just repurpose tpl-rd-mult by renaming it to –tpl-strength

Am I blind? Because I see absolutely ZERO difference in quality between this and the regular one.

Are you serious? Look at the snow! There’s a huge difference!

People on different screens and devices will be able to see different levels of difference.

Especially for a upscale of dvd.
You can use sharpen filter and make quality of previous torrent.

Also, Clybius, lavish fork dev on github, released a patch on Sep 25 to address low quality in low luminance areas. It also allows you to fine tune your arnr (alternate reference noise reduced frames) strength which should benefit retention of original grain/detail:
–tpl-strength (previously tpl-rd-mult) is now a percent multiplier for --arnr-strength
