Thank you for this, was wondering if it was possible to set English subtitles as the primary/default option so that they can play when the file is opened?
They have a lot more subs than just english. I have a script that sets them when I download them, they are tagged appropriately to do this.
> was wondering if it was possible to set English subtitles as the primary/default option so that they can play when the file is opened? You seem to not be aware that matroska spec says that the default flag does not mean what you think it means. Default flag just signifies "this track is intended for automatic selection based on language preference" and not "play this file when opening the video" as you seem to be assuming. And according to the spec ALL languages included in the file require a default flag set for them and any languages not having the default set flag for it is automatically assumed and fallsback to ALL tracks having default set to yes regardless of what it's actually set to. So in this case, a good player that follows the official proper spec will assume ALL tracks in this mux has default = yes because the file is improperly tagged and doesn't follow spec. Therefore all you have to do is set your video player language preference to English as intended to do (players don't know what language you want unless you tell them) and you'll get English as expected. But yes, Judas should learn the spec and properly tag things rather than relying on the matroska fallback coming in to save the day for their wrongly tagged releases.
